An unstoppable Germany oust Argentina in their scintillating performance here in Cape Town at Green Point Stadium on Saturday evening. Germans beat Argentina by a huge 4-0 and bought themselves a ticket to the semi-finals. Diego Maradona’s Albiceleste came into the game with high hopes to avenge their quarter final defeat back in year 2006 and the entire world looked for this game of football with hope but a rampant German squad washed it off with their slick and powerful performance.

German took as less as three minute to set the ground on fire when Joachim Low’s side snatched an early advantage. Bastian Schweinsteiger judged an inswinging free kick and with Sergio Romero caught in no man’s land, Thomas Muller applied the slightest of headed touches to flick the ball into the net. It was the fastest in 32 years and quickest in FIFA World Cup 2010. Argentines though attempted to grab the ball with Angle Di Maria and Higuian trying to create shooting opportunities but Germans foiled their plans.

German remained a constant threat to their rivals and Argentine battled for that one chance to score an equalizer but soon Podolski, who had earlier come close to scoring himself, was to lead the counter attack and Germans studded one more goal on the face of Argentine and the packed to capacity crowd loved it. It was Germany all the way now at Green Point Stadium. When the second half reached its midway, Germany’s Cologne squared tactfully for Klose to tap home from inside the six yard box and it was the third goal for Germans leaving Argentine miserable and broken.

As if it was not enough, Germans unleashed their last and final goal when it was just six minutes of Klose making it for the Germans. Arne Friedrich hit the ball with another close range finish by a mesmerizing solo run from Schweinsteiger. While Klose sees the opportunity to hit the fourth, side-footing home Mesut Ozil’s measured cross with a minute remaining to round of a memorable German win.

German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger was awarded the man of the match while Miroslav Klose needs just a single goal to match Ronaldo who has scored 15 in FIFA WC. Klose now equals legendary German striker Gerd Muller’s tally of 14 in FIFA World Cup tournaments. An elated German coach Jaochim Low, said, “The football we played in the second half was top class. My team showed the desire and commitment of champions.”Germany will now meet Spain on July 7th in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals in Durban.
